Waking up early to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade while sipping some hot coffee with the sleepy animals has become a tradition and this year we got to experience it with our baby for the first time.!
After watching the parade and doing the mad dash to gather baby's stuff up and get ourselves plus him ready, we headed off to the first Thanksgiving stop. We went to my husband's family's side first. Next up was my side of the family. Let's just say our bellies were FULL.
Baby had his own feast that day and on the menu was purèe
- Pear and applesauce for breakfast
- Pumpkin
- White potatoes
- Sweet potatoes
- Prunes (to keep things moving along)
We were going to give him turkey for the first time that day and we did attempt to make turkey purèe...let me just tell you now....don't. One it looks absolutely foul and two it does not work. The turkey chunks stay there while the liquid hangs out above it so its still not safe for him to eat. Against my desire he will have to eat pre made turkey but thats fine! Hopefully he will like it.
Overall it was a pretty good first Thanksgiving for our family. Aside from a few moments of fussiness and overwhelmed, tired baby cries he was very good and we could not be more blessed or thankful.
